Goal
Learn about a veteran
Assignment
Learn about a veteran who served in any conflict. You can do this by listening to/viewing one of the veteran interviews on the resources page, or interview a relative/neighbor who served in any conflict.
Performance Task
Short (2-3 min) presentation to your squad about your veteran. Use Google Slides or MS Powerpoint to present your information.
Each squad discusses this question: “What can we learn from these veterans?”

Section leaders schedule a section meeting anytime during the week of 1Jun.
Zoom sessions to be recorded
Deadline: 9Jun
Section leaders report back to LPO with list of veterans “interviewed” and cadet reactions.
Assignment 2
Goal
Learn about WW2 surrenders in Europe and Japan
Assignment
As a section, choose a recommended movie from the resources page and watch it (separately, on your own time). Then discuss within the section, and help section leader prepare presentation for all hands meeting.
Performance Task
Each section will meet and discuss the movie they chose. Prepare a short presentation for the whole band that includes a summary of the movies and short overview of what their reactions were.
Section Leaders
Choose movie & discuss within your section. Section leaders should schedule a Zoom meeting to discuss and also prepare a 10 minute presentation on the movie and their section’s reactions.
Be prepared to present at 14Jun all-hands meeting

Learn about military music

Review some of the sources linked on the resource page. Find a musical excerpt you enjoy, and send it to your section leader for discussion at the next meeting.
Performance Task
Record yourself playing your excerpt. Write or record an introduction that explains the historical context and why you chose this excerpt..

NSCC division and Navy ships
are often named for people. Choose one of those people and learn about them. (Find lists of USNSCC units and Navy ships on the Resources page)
